Nice and the Cote d'Azur
3 years ago at this time, I was finalizing my trip to France and Spain, one of the best travel experiences of my life.
I began in Nice on my own, staying at the Boscolo Exedra. Aside from it's very convenient location (not along the Promenade des Anglais, but close enough), I really loved the elegance and character of this hotel. It is fancy, but not pretentious. Service was lovely and anytime there's a Nespresso machine in my room, well, I'm good. I didn't find the price to be outrageous given prices in the US for 5 stars, and I was there just ahead of the Grand Prix which meant prices did not skyrocket. I believe my room was around 280/night or less (jumping to 1200 for the Grand Prix weekend).
Once my friends arrived, we moved to a wonderful VRBO apartment near the Rue Dalpozzo and just a few blocks from the famous Hotel Negresco, where we could walk for drinks, and closer to the train station which would be key for our travel to Monaco for the Grand Prix.
Certainly the highlights of the trip were many, most of them revolved around food. The Chevre d'Or is not to be missed. I hope one day to return to Eze and stay at the hotel - not really going anywhere other than that lovely little city and property for about a week (travel goals). The food was stellar and the views from the dining room high above the Cote d'Azur were stunning.
